A Travellerspoint blog

And so it begins. . .

Several different friends have asked if I'm going to keep a travel blog during my upcoming travels through Asia - so I've decided to try my hand at this blogging thing. For those of you interested in keeping tabs on me around the world, I'll do my best to keep it interesting!

I'll be starting the trip off with an exciting 20 hour flight to Singapore, where I'm looking forward to seeing friends Christen and Tom and their new baby Nat. After a day in Singapore, we'll head out together to the beaches of Phuket where we will be staying in our own private villa!

After four days in Phuket, I hope to be thoroughly relaxed and recovered from the long flight - not to mention four years of work - and will head on to meet friends Megan and Irene in Bangkok.

Megan is a long time friend and travel companion from San Francisco and Irene is our friend from Spain who I first met last year on our Grand Canyon Trip. We'll spend a few days in Bangkok before heading out for more beaches and diving on the island of Ko Samui (and hopefully the little villas we found online will indeed be far away from the tourist throngs of the island). After that, we're off to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We'll spend a day there and then head to Siem Reap and the wonders of Angkor Wat.

Eventually, I'll part ways with Megan and Irene and head back to Singapore - but only long enough to catch my flight to meet my parents in China. While there, we'll visit Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Xian.

Needless to say I'm excited about the trip and will do my best to keep this blog updated. You can subscribe to get updates - and can also submit comments (and travel suggestions) as well.

Thanks for reading!

(Disclaimer: I'm sure I'll be paying by the minute to use the internet to update my blog and I won't be spending a lot of time proofreading when I can be out on the beach instead. There will be typos and spelling mistakes in this blog, and as my mom can tell you I'm horrible when it comes to there/their etc. - read this blog at your own grammatic risk!)
